Windows 11 bug speeds up File Explorer
File Explorer, Windows 11’s file application, has become more performant after a new bug. According to reports, switching File Explorer back to full-screen mode after switching it to full-screen mode causes it to speed up.
Videos shared by Windows users revealed the reality of this bug. If you press F11 to make the application full screen and then switch it back to window mode, you will notice that folder contents and file images load faster.
The cause of this bug, which quickly went viral on Reddit and Twitter, is unknown. However, Windows 11’s File Explorer has previously been criticized for being slow to load folder contents and search results.
The speed boost bug appears to affect all current versions of Windows 11, including Insider editions. However, it is unclear whether Microsoft intentionally slowed down File Explorer.
While the bug may offer an accidental performance boost, users feel that File Explorer’s performance should be improved. Microsoft has not yet commented on the bug.
