YouTube is working on a feature that will save viewers from having to scroll through long content. The company’s new feature will show important parts of videos in the timeline. With this feature, called “Key Moments”, you will only be able to skip to the important parts in each video.

The Highlights feature aims to automatically identify video highlights based on data such as viewership and engagement. Once it has identified these moments, it will place dots on the timeline to show where in the video they occur.

The Highlights feature is rolling out initially on the smart TV app and website. When watching a video with this feature, you will see a table of thumbnails for each key moment. You can tap on these thumbnails to instantly switch between highlights.

Apple will turn the corner for iPhone users with iOS 18!

The countdown to iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 is on. Apple is rumored to be withholding this update for three iPad models.

YouTube says its aim with Highlights is to make it easier for viewers to get to the most interesting parts of videos. The reason it’s available on Smart TV is because it can be difficult to navigate through a video. Scanning specific parts of a video with the remote control can be tiring.

YouTube already has a feature called “Chapters” in videos. This allows video owners to manually segment their content and better manage the video. Highlights plans to make this automatic.

YouTube said the feature will be available on both TV and desktop. It is unclear when it will come to mobile platforms.
