YouTube Music finally testing playlist search

Ana sayfa / News

YouTube Music might be ready to fix one of its most annoying gaps the lack of playlist search.

After years of user requests, YouTube Music seems to be quietly testing an in-playlist search feature. A Reddit post spotted the new option “Find in Playlist” inside version 8.45.3 of the iOS app. It was seen in India, and yes, it’s real. For now, though, the option seems to be rolling out slowly, and only to a limited group of users.

Plenty of Android and iOS users chimed in to say they still don’t see the option. Even users with the same app version reported no sign of the feature. That points to a limited A/B test, something Google often does before a wide release. We checked too nothing visible on our end.

It might sound basic, but this missing tool has irritated users for years. Until now, the only way to search within a playlist was through desktop browser extensions. On mobile, users were left swiping through endless tracks, especially painful for those with mega playlists.

Here’s what the new option might improve:

One catch: the feature currently seems to apply only to playlists not to radio stations saved to a user’s library. That limitation could stick, or it may be part of the slow testing stage. Either way, it’s worth keeping expectations in check.

If “Find in Playlist” does go live for everyone, it’ll likely sit in the three-dot menu beside your playlists. Simple, clean, and way overdue. Fans have waited long enough; now it’s just a matter of when Google pulls the trigger. The scroll struggle might finally end.
