Last week there were rumors and even signs that the web app might support YouTube Music offline downloading. The feature is now starting to roll out for some users.
How will YouTube Music offline download work on the web app?
On the Album/single page of the YouTube Music web app, you’ll see a download button at the top labeled “Save to library”. A “Downloading…” indicator will appear in the bottom left corner to indicate progress.
There will then be a new Downloads tab on the Library page. This tab will have categories such as Filters, Playlists, Podcasts, Songs and Albums. Google will indicate when there is no internet connection with a text at the bottom of the playback bar that reads “When there is no internet connection.
Content you download via YouTube Music offline download will remain available as long as your device has an active internet connection at least once every 30 days.
This has been a long-awaited feature. It’s a nice solution to YouTube Music not offering a desktop app. At the moment, the feature is not live on every device, but seems to be rolling out slowly.
Downloading content will probably require a YouTube Premium subscription. What do you think? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
