Ana sayfa / News

In just two days, one of Nintendo’s most iconic games, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, will become playable in full VR with 6DOF (six degrees of freedom), motion controls, and immersive gameplay through the BetterVR mod. Built to run on the Cemu Wii U emulator, this new conversion mod transforms Hyrule into a fully explorable VR environment just in time for New Year’s Eve 2026.

The BetterVR mod unlocks complete head tracking and motion control support. Players can now experience:

With this mod, even petting dogs becomes a tactile moment in virtual space.

Although it’s free and open-source, the BetterVR mod isn’t plug-and-play. You’ll need to:

Note: The developer warns that AMD GPUs may not work at launch due to driver issues. AMD CPUs, however, perform fine. Some tested setups include:

VR framerate matters. Inconsistent or low FPS can cause motion sickness. The game already runs smoothly at high framerates on PC, but ensuring your rig can keep up in VR is essential.

What sets this apart is how complete the experience feels. Rather than a hacked-together VR camera, this is a deep VR conversion that respects the original design while giving players new tools to explore it. You can play it traditionally, or you can climb, glide, and fight like you’re in Hyrule yourself.

The Breath of the Wild BetterVR mod drops on December 30, freely available to download and tinker with. The project is open source, ensuring continued updates and improvements from the community. It’s not official but it might be the most immersive way to play Zelda yet.

If you’ve got the right gear and the passion, 2026 might start with your first VR shrine run.
