The 2025 World Car Awards were officially announced at the New York Motor Show. The fact that almost all of the winning models were electric vehicles revealed the end point of the transformation in the automotive industry.

The car of the year was Kia’s fully electric compact SUV model EV3. Beating rivals such as the BMW X3 and Hyundai Inster, the EV3 stood out with its segment-leading 605-kilometre range and fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in 31 minutes.

With this result, Kia has added another link to the chain of success it has achieved in electric mobility in recent years. EV3 is currently in the top 10 in electric vehicle sales in many countries in Europe.
In the luxury car category, the award was given to the Volvo EX90. In the list of models such as Porsche Macan and Panamera; Volvo EX90 came first with its dual-engine four-wheel drive system, 402 horsepower and 111 kWh battery pack. The vehicle offers a range of up to 499 kilometres on a full charge and accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in 5.7 seconds.
The electric vehicle of the year award went to Hyundai’s urban compact SUV model Inster. The model, also known as ‘Casper Electric’ in the Asian market, stands out with its 113 horsepower electric motor, a range of up to 370 kilometres and the ability to fast charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.
In the city car category, the award was given to Chinese BYD’s Seagull model. This vehicle, which is sold in the Chinese market with a starting price of less than $ 10,000, stood out with its ‘Intelligent Driving Edition’ version offering a range of up to 405 kilometres.

The Volkswagen ID Buzz received the award for car design of the year. Combining its nostalgic look with a modern electric infrastructure, the model continues to attract attention with its design even years after its launch.
Despite the dominance of electric models, the performance car award went to the Porsche 911 GTS, which attracts attention with its hybrid-supported internal combustion engine. Offering 532 horsepower in total with the electric motor system integrated into the 3.6-litre turbocharged straight-six engine, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in 2.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 312 km/h.
