BYD has announced its new electric vehicle platform, the “Super e-Platform”, and has started pre-sales of the first two models based on this platform. The new platform stands out with its high-speed charging support and performance-oriented engines.
BYD has officially announced its new electric vehicle platform
The Super e-Platform will be based on redesigned Blade batteries that support ultra-fast charging, high-performance electric motors and next-generation silicon carbide power chips. The specially designed batteries have a full 10 C charge coefficient and offer the world’s highest mass-production battery charging capacity. This coefficient means that the battery can be fully charged in just 6 minutes.

BYD has also introduced a new supercharger station that supports 1,000 kW of power. This station can provide a range of 2 kilometers in one second and 400 kilometers in five minutes. BYD’s supercharger stations will have twice the capacity of Tesla’s latest V4 supercharger, which offers 500 kW of power. The company plans to build more than 4,000 of these stations.
The new generation electric motor announced at the introduction was shown as the model that reached the highest engine speed in mass production with 30,511 rpm. The engine’s 580 kW peak power will offer higher performance than V12 internal combustion engines. It was also stated that the highest level of power density in the sector was reached with 16.4 kW/kg.
The first models based on the new Super e-Platform were the Han L EV and Tang L EV. The official launch of the vehicles, which are offered for pre-sale as of today, will be held in early April. While the pre-sale price of the Han L EV varies between $37,330 – $48,400, the Tang L EV is priced between $38,700 – $49,700.
It was announced that the Han L EV can reach 100 kilometers from 0 in 2.7 seconds, while the Tang L EV can reach this speed in 3.6 seconds. Both models feature BYD’s “God’s Eye B” intelligent driving system and come with roof-mounted LiDAR hardware.
The company has also started accepting customer reservations for the hybrid versions Han L DM and Tang L DM. However, pricing information for these models has not been shared. What do you think about this? You can share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
