The number of electric cars is increasing day by day. But some have aged quite a bit. BMW, which is assertive about electric vehicles, stopped the production of the iconic, popular and highly successful i3. What is the reason behind this decision?
BMW stopped production of its tiny electric car i3!
BMW’s first all-electric mass production model, the i3, said goodbye to the production line after a long time. After 9 years, it will no longer be produced. The German automotive company said that they pulled the plug after producing the 250 thousandth i3.
Drawing attention with its tiny design, the BMW i3 has been available for sale in more than 74 countries since its first release. In this process, the range and engine power of the electric vehicle, which gained different versions, increased with the innovations made.
BMW has produced a special version called HomeRun to say goodbye to its iconic model. Matte black, Glacier Gray and Glacial Red colors were used for the first time with this vehicle, which has a design based on the i3S model.
In the interior of the vehicle, Truffle leather, leather instrument panel and bronze details took a place. In addition, special logos reminding that the vehicle is a special version were also used in the interior. Note that it is currently on sale. Of course, if stocks are not out yet.
HomeRun uses an electric motor in the i3S that can produce 183 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque. According to EPA standards, its 42 kWh battery offers a 246 km range. BMW’s new electric cars offer a much higher range than this. But on the other hand, the range of the i3 has always been low.
