DLSS 3 Boosts Up to 2.8x Performance in Portal with RTX Support
The following statements were made about RTX support that will breathe new life into Valve’s iconic video game Portal: “Nvidia has announced details on the redesign and launch of Portal, Valve’s iconic game that is widely recognized as one of the best video games of all time, with full ray tracing, DLSS 3 and more to bring a stunning new look and feel to Portal. Created by Lightspeed Studios, RTX-powered Portal will be available as free downloadable content (DLC) for users who already own Portal. Also the date is December 8, 2022.”
According to Nvidia, every frame of the game is powered by stunning full-ray tracing. Also new, hand-crafted high-resolution physically-based textures, and new, enhanced high-poly models that evoke the originals. A series of graphics techniques, accelerated by DLSS technology, has been applied to give the game a stunning new look.
“DLSS 3 will enable users of 40-series GPUs to get a performance boost of over 2.8. Thus making the game incredibly smooth and responsive compared to how it’s normally rendered. While RTX 30-series GPU users will also benefit from DLSS 2.”
John Spitzer, Head of Nvidia Lightspeed Studios, “Updating beloved games requires a balance of applying new, cutting-edge techniques while staying true to the original spirit of the game. The experience Nvidia’s Lightspeed Studios has gained working on RTX versions of famous games like Minecraft and Quake II gave Valve the confidence to trust us to bring modern graphics techniques to their legendary games, and RTX Remix gave us the perfect tool to accomplish the task.” said.
