Gmail will now start displaying a blue checkmark. Company emails can be distinguished with a blue checkmark against fraud.
The blue checkmark craze that began on Twitter after Elon Musk is now coming to Gmail accounts. Following the announcement by Google, blue checkmarks will be distributed to verify the authenticity of Gmail accounts.
Genuine Gmail accounts will receive a blue checkmark
Google recently announced a new security layer for Gmail that increases its protective measures. This feature seems to prevent phishing scams that deceive users and steal sensitive information. Now, a verification mark will appear next to the emails of companies, institutions, or well-known individuals.
According to Google’s announcement, when you receive an email from a verified company, you’ll see a blue checkmark next to the company name in your inbox. This update will be part of the Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) technology that Google began testing in Gmail last year.
When you hover over the blue checkmark in Gmail, you’ll see a pop-up window saying, “The sender of this email has verified the domain in the profile picture and owns the logo.” This means that Google will provide detailed information for the recipient to understand whether the sender is genuine or not.
We should note that there is no such feature in other email services yet. However, details on how companies will verify their corporate emails remain uncertain for now. We assume Google will open an application system.
