Twitter, one of the social media platforms that has been on everyone’s agenda lately, was acquired by Elon Musk last year for $44 billion. The platform, which is now operating with a different approach and policy than before, has received backlash from a large portion of its users, but it still remains one of the most widely used social media platforms. In fact, during this process, a competitor to Twitter even emerged from its former founder Jack Dorsey. The new social media app called Bluesky recently surpassed a significant user milestone.
Bluesky Social has surpassed 100,000 users
Twitter was founded by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams in March 2006 and was launched in July 2006. The platform quickly gained popularity and has become one of the world’s largest social media platforms to date. Last year, it was acquired by Elon Musk.
Jack Dorsey, who stepped down as CEO in 2021 and continued his journey as a member of the board of directors, left the company he co-founded during the acquisition negotiations. It seems that the former Twitter CEO Dorsey did not completely close the chapter on social media, and in this regard, he recently launched a new platform called Bluesky to compete with Twitter.
The new app operates with an invitation system, similar to Clubhouse, which caused a sensation in 2021. In other words, not everyone can directly enter and use this app. However, it recently surpassed 100,000 users and made a name for itself. In fact, according to recent reports, the number of posts shared on the platform has exceeded 3.1 million. This has led to rumors that if the invitation system is canceled and it is opened to the general public in the future, Musk’s Twitter may face a strong competitor.
