Google has started distributing some of the innovations it showcased during last month’s I/O 2023 event with Android 14 Beta 3. One notable enhancement in the update for Pixel devices is the increased personalization options. Google will now offer a much more customized clock interface on the lock screen.
Android 14 Beta 3: Lockscreen customization and more
The Beta 3 update introduces an innovative Wallpaper and Style interface with separate tabs for “Lock Screen” and “Home Screen.” Users can independently customize the appearance of their smartphone’s home screen and lock screen. Additionally, they can easily navigate between these two sections to customize them according to their preferences.
The clock options on the lock screen received a significant update with Beta 3. Previously, two options were available for the clock interface: “Dynamic” and “Small.” With the new update, users will be able to manually adjust the color and size of the clock.
Android 14 Beta 3 currently offers nine clock designs for the lock screen. Seven of these designs come with different font options, allowing users to choose lock screen interfaces that suit their tastes.
Google is also testing a clock interface on the lock screen that includes weather information. This interface, which highlights the Material You style, is not functional in Beta 3 yet. However, users will be able to view the time and weather on the lock screen.
Beta 3 also offers the option to customize accessibility shortcuts on the lock screen. These shortcuts include popular tools like Silent mode, Do Not Disturb, flashlight, QR code scanner, and more.
Another new feature for the home screen is the ability to set different themes based on different wallpapers. Users can customize their home screen by selecting from a range of colors and wallpapers according to their preferences.
