In these times of highly advanced technology and science, people are extremely curious when it comes to Mars. Moreover, the information provided by experts holds significant importance. Recently, an image taken on Mars surprised even the scientists. Consequently, numerous questions arose about the object encountered on the Martian surface. Here are the details!
The object could be debris from a foreign spacecraft!
In recent times, many images have been exciting the scientific community. One of these images came from Mars a few days ago. A curious object appeared on the base of the Gale Crater, which is 155 km long, as seen by NASA’s Curiosity rover, capturing the interest of scientists as well.
Experts have provided several explanations regarding the object that initially resembles a dragon bone-shaped rock. Firstly, they considered seismic activity as a possible cause for these formations. They pointed out that the structure of the object resembled the “sand spines” that occur during significant earthquakes on Earth.
Additionally, the possibility of the object being debris from an extraterrestrial spacecraft was also considered. Alongside these considerations, a recent study published in the scientific journal “Journal of Astrobiology” featured an explanation from Professor Richard Armstrong of Aston University.
“The presence of these structures on Mars is highly unusual and, in my experience, unique. The origins of the spines and related features are not certain, but the evidence suggests they resemble a type of sand spine formed as a result of significant seismic activity, much like those observed on Earth.”
Armstrong also stated that these sharp tips have some differences from the ones on Earth. According to him, the sand spines found on Mars are not inflated like the ones on Earth. Additionally, a more interesting hypothesis emerged from the study. While they ruled out the possibility of the object being space debris, Armstrong left the possibility open that it could be a foreign spacecraft that collided and crash-landed on Mars.
