WhatsApp continues to add new features to groups. With the latest change, WhatsApp for Android Beta users have the option to pre-schedule voice and video calls for groups. This feature, which is currently being tested for Android version 2.22.17.12, seems to be useful for business groups.
WhatsApp groups get audio/video call scheduling feature
Android beta testers can schedule voice or video calls in group chat. With the date and time feature that appears in groups, it is possible to schedule meetings in advance. The person scheduling the meeting can also set a topic for the call.
If a call is scheduled in the group, it automatically creates a new event that all participants can see. WhatsApp also sends a reminder notification to all group members 15 minutes before the start of the scheduled call.
This feature of the popular messaging app aims to improve the planning and coordination of group discussions. It allows groups, especially those used for business purposes, to meet quickly and minimize the possibility of missing a meeting.
The group call scheduling feature builds on WhatsApp’s existing video/audio calling features. However, the new feature is still under development and will be rolled out to the stable version based on user feedback.
It’s worth noting that WhatsApp has also been rolling out important innovations for groups for some time, including larger file sharing, in-chat polls, and the ability to expand the number of participants. Scheduled group calling is also part of the app’s goal to increase its communication capabilities.
