Mini has introduced its new electric Cooper model. The Mini Cooper EV, with a range of 402 kilometers, was revealed today with all its details ahead of its appearance at the IAA 2023 on September 5th.
Small and fast!
Mini, which operates under the BMW umbrella, has unveiled its new fully electric Cooper model today. Presented in a three-door version, the Mini Cooper EV will be available in two models: Cooper E and Cooper SE, differing in their motor options.
According to the descriptions, the Cooper E will have an electric motor under the hood producing 181 HP and 290 Nm of torque. With this motor, the Cooper E can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and cover 305 kilometers on a full charge. The slightly more powerful Cooper SE, on the other hand, boasts 214 HP and 330 Nm of torque. This allows it to reach 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and provides a range of 402 kilometers.
The design of the Mini Cooper EV!
Looking at the front of the vehicle, we can see that Mini‘s iconic round contours have been incorporated here as well. The Cooper EV comes with round LED headlights and, due to the grille’s structure, gives the impression of a human face when viewed from the front. Moving to the side, the Cooper EV doesn’t look significantly different from the familiar Cooper models, but it does draw attention with its wheel design. However, it’s the rear stoplight design that distinguishes the Cooper EV from other Cooper models.
Due to being a small one-door vehicle, the Mini Cooper EV doesn’t promise a large trunk. It has a trunk capacity of 200 liters, which can be extended to 800 liters when the seats are folded down. It can’t be said that this space is particularly practical. However, it’s worth noting that the front two seats are quite spacious. Thanks to its light-colored sports seats, the Cooper EV doesn’t leave you feeling lacking during spirited drives, and its new three-spoke steering wheel design enhances the driving experience.
In the front, Mini has simplified many things, using physical controls only for the gear shifter. Cooper EV allows you to make all other adjustments through its 9.44-inch screen, providing ease of use with the “Hey Mini” command. Additionally, the screen’s color can change along with the interior ambient lighting.
Overall, when we look at it, Cooper EV shares similar designs with the electric CountryMan and presents a truly stylish and modern design. While the price of the vehicle is not yet known, there will likely be announcements about it very soon. What do you think about the Mini Cooper EV? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
