Since its founding, Valve has been trying to enter the gaming console market by producing different game consoles. However, it’s hard to say that they have been successful apart from the Steam Deck and Valve Index models. The new certification application from South Korea reveals that the company is working on a different console.
Valve obtains certification for a mysterious gaming console
Valve Corporation has started developing a different device according to a listing in South Korea. The reason it’s believed to be different is based on its numbering. While the Steam Deck has the code “1010” and the Valve Index VR has the code “1007,” the new console is referred to as “1030.”
Valve has previously developed various hardware products like Steam Machines and the Steam Controller, but they didn’t resonate with users. New product categories like Steam Deck and Valve Index VR are considered relatively successful.

Steam Machines, designed to compete with Windows, were discontinued due to low sales figures. The Steam Controller, which replaced analog joysticks with trackpads, didn’t capture gamers’ interest and was discontinued in 2019.
Despite setbacks, Valve is not afraid to experiment with new consoles. The device with the code “1030” could be another one of these experiments.
