Initial tests by HP show that the 3D printed sole delivers 90 percent higher energy return. This allows athletes to run more efficiently and get more thrust with every step.

Brooks Running was also able to customize the sole design for specific shoe sizes using athlete data. This means that depending on the height and weight of the athlete, it can deliver an optimal personalized running experience.

At the event, it was stated that HP and Brooks Running are working together on sustainability. Accordingly, Brooks Manager Nikhil Jain stated that 3D printing allows using less material in production.
