Google will start showing information from TikTok videos in search results. The tech giant wants to make the internet experience more interactive by creating a section that highlights TikTok content in Google Search.
TikTok videos will be featured in Google Search
Google actually started to include TikTok videos in search results some time ago. However, it was not showing these videos at the main points of the search. Depending on the search, it would place them in the middle of the page and redirect to the TikTok page. The new experience will allow direct access to the video.
This move is a result of Generation Z in particular preferring TikTok as a search engine more than Google. According to a recent survey, 40 percent of Americans now turn to TikTok to find information.
Google wants to revamp its search engine by leveraging content and information from the popular short video app. In this way, it wants to integrate users who are used to gathering information on TikTok into its platform.
It is unclear how reliable TikTok is compared to Google’s web crawl. But Google Search wants to capture a share of this market by highlighting short-form videos in search results. It aims to adapt TikTok’s viral video format to search with an engaging experience.
This feature is currently being tested as part of the Google SGE. Let’s see when it will be generally available for Google Search.
