What if an electric truck picked up your garbage in front of your house every morning? It will probably feel strange at first, but you will get used to it over time. Here are the features and details of the Swedish brand’s first fully electric truck model, Volvo FM Low Entry…
After the tow truck, it’s the electric truck’s turn! Volvo FM Low Entry features!
The electrification trend is growing day by day. Now it’s trucks and heavy vehicles. In fact, Volvo announced the first signals of this change by introducing the electric model to its FH series tractors. This time, the brand broke new ground in its history. Introduced Volvo’s first fully electric model, FM Low Entry.
In fact, we can say that this vehicle of the brand is completely municipality friendly. The vehicle was introduced as a garbage truck version in the launch visuals. However, FM Low Entry can be configured to meet all needs with its 4X2, 6X2, 6X4, 8X2, and 8X4 axle configuration options. Single and double cabin options are also available.
Symbolizing a first in Volvo history, the electric truck FM Low Entry has four batteries offering a capacity of 360 kWh and a unit that produces 489 Hp. The vehicle can offer a range of up to 200 kilometers with this battery pack. 200 kilometers is quite short for intercity transportation, but it is quite enough for a truck working in the city on tasks such as excavation, garbage and municipal works.
The vehicle can operate with gross tonnage ranging from 19-32 tons. In addition, like every vehicle participating in the electrification campaign, it also has serious technological innovations. Expectations are high for the model, which will be available in the first quarter of 2024. Volvo aims to ensure that consumers become accustomed to the electrification movement and that half of the vehicles sold will be electric by 2030.
