According to Efficent Computer, the processor’s efficiency far surpasses that of traditional MCU (Microcontroller Unit) processors by 100 times and consumes 1000 times less power than GPU units. The company believes that the backward compatibility of traditional processors with all computer languages diminishes efficiency. The Monza processor, developed by Efficent with the Fabric architecture, aims to change this inefficiency.
Efficent emphasizes that the processor is compatible with fundamental programming languages, but the key difference lies in the processor’s adaptability to these languages. In other words, software needs to be tailored to run on this processor.
Efficent Computer has also prepared a special developer kit for programmers, enabling them to program the Monza processor according to the software. The crucial feature of this processor is its individual programming requirement for each program.
Efficent claims that traditional processors, microcontrollers, and GPU units are designed to run every program, leading to decreased efficiency and excessive energy consumption. This efficient processor also promises to extend device battery life.
The company states that this efficiency positively impacts performance, as the processor, programmed only for specific tasks, maximizes performance compared to traditional processors. However, the company has not yet released performance data for this new processor.
