Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna made statements about the first electric car model. According to Vigna, this vehicle will not offer a silent experience similar to many electric cars on the market. The CEO was particularly critical of Tesla’s engine.
When will the first electric Ferrari arrive?
In an interview with CNBC, Benedetto Vigna said that they will integrate the internal combustion engine sound that Ferrari customers have come to expect into electric vehicles. He said that they increased their work on the electric car prototype for a unique driving experience.
Almost every brand that produces electric cars, such as Tesla, Hyundai and Ford, includes a silent engine. CEO Vigna said Ferrari will have “character and emotion with its voice”. He also stated that the company is researching various technologies for an audible driving experience.
Ferrari plans to put its first electric model on sale by the end of 2025. However, CEO Vigna said that the Ferrari model will target a different consumer group than Tesla. In this context, it should be noted that the company will focus on staying luxurious rather than functionality.
Previously, different automakers have also looked for ways to add artificial engine sound to electric vehicles. Dodge, for example, showed an electric vehicle concept with different sound settings. Hyundai, on the other hand, has proposed adding “fake noise sounds” to its electric vehicles.
It remains to be seen how Ferrari will tune the engine sound of its first electric car. It should be reminded that the company plans to present its first vehicle in 2025.
