Microsoft announced that this past January was the biggest month ever for Xbox consoles in terms of total hours played. A big part of that engagement belonged to Palworld, which was in early access as part of Xbox Game Preview.
Thanks to Palworld, Xbox had its biggest month ever
Developed by Pocket Pair, Palworld made a big splash with its “Pokemon with guns” concept. Since launching exclusively for Xbox and Windows in mid-January, the game has amassed more than 10 million players.
First introduced in 2021, Palworld introduces players to a world where they can catch creatures called Pals using special cannons. What sets the game apart from Pokemon is that players navigate a challenging environment, relying on their Friends, weapons and crafting skills to survive.
Palworld is the biggest third-party title ever on Xbox Game Pass, according to Microsoft. The game’s unconventional nature seems to have resonated strongly with players.
Palworld also highlights the growing importance of independent developers to the Xbox platform. Microsoft reports that it currently supports more than 3,500 indie games in more than 100 countries.
Next generation Xbox
Palworld continues to attract the attention of gamers around the world, proving that the combination of different elements can create a popular gaming experience.
