The automobile world is witnessing an interesting game of partnership. Although BYD has parted ways with Daimler (Mercedes-Benz), it confused Germany by using the name “Mercedes-Benz” when introducing the Denza sedan.
BYD Denza sedan unveiled in Europe
BYD, which had partnered with Daimler in the past years, recently ended the partnership by buying most of the shares. The company’s inclusion of Mercedes-Benz when introducing its new model confused the automobile world.
When introducing its new luxury sedan, BYD used the phrase “the new luxury sedan of Mercedes-Benz and BYD”. It is stated that this situation does not comply with a strategy defined as “co-branding” in the automobile world, where both brands are used together.
In the photos shared, the new Denza has a very sleek and aerodynamic design. The company describes it as a “premium new energy sedan with striking design and innovative technologies”. While the photos clearly show the design, the innovative features are based on BYD’s undisclosed new technologies.
The car’s design is by Wolfgang Egger, who previously worked at Audi. “Denza, Design is both exciting and luxurious at the same time,” Egger said.
With the Denza sedan, BYD aims to “bring Chinese electric luxury sedans to world standards”. We will see whether these ambitious goals will be realized in the coming months. The vehicle is expected to go on sale by the end of the year.
