Turkey has applied to join the international lunar station to be built in cooperation with Russia and China. The Director of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences announced that Turkey has applied for the project. Turkey wants to join Russia and China’s international lunar station
According to Sputnik Turkey, Turkey has taken the first step to join China and Russia in an international lunar station. Russia and China have agreed to build a station on the Moon in 2020. The Turkish Space Agency also wants to be involved in this project.
Within the scope of the joint project of the two countries, the Russian Orbital Station is planned to be deployed in orbit between 2027 and 2032. Thanks to the station, Russia and China will further advance their joint work in space.
Participation in the lunar station will also create important opportunities for Turkey. It was stated that Turkey could find the chance to take an active role in the project thanks to the breakthroughs it has made in the field of space and aviation in recent months.
Turkish scientists are planned to participate in the scientific studies to be carried out on the lunar station. Following the journey of first astronaut to the ISS, Turkey’s adventure in space seems to be growing.
The Turkish Space Agency has not announced whether an application has been made to the Russian Orbital Station. However, a joint station to be developed with Russia and China could enable Turkey to step up the pace in the space race.
