Managing emails and finding the one you’re looking for can often be frustrating. However, Apple has finally taken steps to change this. The new features announced at Apple’s WWDC 24 event will make the Mail app much more useful, even working like a personal assistant. Here’s the revamped Apple Mail app…
Apple is updating the Mail app with artificial intelligence
Apple is adding new categories to the Mail app to help better manage and organize incoming emails. These features may be familiar to Gmail users but come with some differences. For example, the “primary” category will gather messages from people you know and time-sensitive messages at the top.
Additionally, the “transactions” category will be for receipts and order confirmations, the “updates” category will be for newsletters and social media notifications, and the “promotions” category will be for marketing and sales messages. With the “summary” view, you can see all emails from a business in one place. For example, all emails from Turkish Airlines will be grouped, so you won’t have to search for your flight information. These features will be available later this year.
With the new AI system, Apple Intelligence, smart writing tools will be integrated into the Mail app. These tools will open a sidebar to help you rewrite an email draft. For instance, you will have options to make your email tone more “friendly,” “professional,” or “concise.” The Smart Reply feature will recognize questions asked in a previous email and help you respond to them.
The enhanced Siri will also assist you in the Mail app. You can ask Siri to find something you’re struggling to remember, like a book recommendation from a friend. Additionally, you can ask questions like “When does my mom’s flight land?” and Siri will find the email and provide the most accurate arrival time with real-time flight tracking.
