Microsoft has made its choice between iPhone and Android. In a warning sent to its employees in China, Android owners were asked to switch to iPhone. The company, which has experienced several major security vulnerabilities, does not want Android to be used in the office.

Microsoft will only allow iPhone in China

Microsoft, which has suffered several major cybersecurity breaches in China, has taken several steps to improve employee security. According to a report by Bloomberg, the tech giant wants all its employees in China to use iPhones. In this context, it was recommended not to bring Android devices to the office.

With this change, the company aims to address security issues specific to Android devices in China. It is also not possible to use the Google Play Store in the country due to restrictions imposed by the Chinese government. This prevents apps like Microsoft Authenticator from being updated from the official store.

Without security updates, Android devices cannot be protected against vulnerabilities, the company warned. iPhone models can receive security updates through Microsoft’s mobile device management software.

Microsoft said the new policy will take effect in September, at which point employees should not bring their Android phones to the office. They will only be allowed to access work apps and email on their Apple devices.

Microsoft suffered several security breaches in China last year and decided to increase its cybersecurity investments. Employees’ email accounts were stolen last year. And earlier this year, executives’ emails were hacked.
