AMD surprised the tech world and announced that it has started working on Zen 7 processors. AMD’s CTO Mark Papermaster confirmed at the Zen 5 Technology Day that this next generation of processors is in development. Zen 7 is one of the advanced processors AMD is planning for two generations from now.
AMD Zen 7 is already in development
AMD aims to usher in a new era in the PC world with Zen 7 processors. Currently only in the design phase, Zen 7 processors will most likely be released in early 2028. Based on AMD’s typical processor release cycle, Zen 6 is expected to be available in mid-2026. Which means Zen 7 could be available in the first quarter of 2028.
Zen 7 will be an important step in companys’ innovation journey. This new processor family promises to deliver improved performance, efficiency and technological innovation. It remains to be seen what Zen 7 will bring on top of Zen 5 and Zen 6.
AMD’s announcement is likely to further heat up the competition in the processor market. How Intel and other competitors will respond is already highly anticipated. With the launch of Zen 7, desktop computer users will reach a whole new level of performance.
