Meta, the tech giant, is on the brink of making a significant breakthrough in the AI world. According to reports from The New York Times and other sources, the company is negotiating with several high-profile celebrities for its future AI projects. Here are the details about the names involved and the planned agreements…
Meta Allocates Big Budget for AI Voice Synthesis
According to sources close to Meta, the company has started discussions with numerous Hollywood stars and artists for its next-generation AI model. Celebrities on Meta’s target list include Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key, Snoop Dogg, and Judi Dench.
Meta is offering millions of dollars to secure the rights to use these celebrities’ voices for training AI voice clones. If all goes as planned, these agreements are expected to be finalized before the Connect 2024 event, with official announcements made during the event.
Interestingly, Scarlett Johansson’s name is not among the celebrities Meta is pursuing. This could be due to her recent disputes with OpenAI and her lawsuit, which might have made Meta cautious about involving her.
This move by Meta recalls the company’s previous attempt with famous AI chatbots. Despite collaborating with celebrities like Paris Hilton and Snoop Dogg, the company did not receive the anticipated interest. Similarly, Amazon made similar attempts but completely removed this feature in 2023.
