TEKNOFEST Akdeniz, one of Turkey’s most important events in technology and innovation, once again hosted exciting moments this year. The Robotaksi Passenger Autonomous Vehicle Competition, held at Bilişim Vadisi, brought together young talents and projects that shed light on the future of transportation technologies. Throughout the competition, autonomous vehicles developed by young engineers showcased their skills on challenging tracks.
38 Teams Competed in the TEKNOFEST Robotaksi Passenger Autonomous Vehicle Competition Finals!
The Robotaksi Passenger Autonomous Vehicle Competition attracted intense interest from young engineers across Turkey. A total of 367 teams from 15 different provinces applied to participate in this prestigious competition. Applications were evaluated in two different categories: Ready-Made Vehicle and Original Vehicle.
In the Ready-Made Vehicle category, teams used vehicles provided by Bilişim Vadisi, while in the Original Vehicle category, they competed with vehicles entirely of their own design. The high number of applications made the elimination stage of the competition quite challenging. The jury meticulously examined the projects of the applicant teams and determined the teams that would participate in the final stage of the competition.
Based on criteria such as innovation, technical competence, and feasibility, 38 teams earned the right to participate in the finals. These teams got the chance to compete in the final stage held at Bilişim Vadisi.
The final stage took place at Bilişim Vadisi over four days. Young engineers tried to perform challenging tasks in a real track environment with the autonomous vehicles they developed. The vehicles were expected to pick up and drop off passengers, park, and follow the designated route flawlessly.
The competitors fiercely competed with each other, trying to control their vehicles in the best way possible with the algorithms and sensor systems they developed. This exciting four-day competition offered unforgettable moments for both the competitors and the audience.
Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Industry and Technology, and Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of the TEKNOFEST Board of Directors, visited Bilişim Vadisi to watch the final stage of the competition and support young talents. Minister Kacır and Bayraktar chatted with the young engineers, learned about their projects, and congratulated them.
The teams that ranked in the competition were awarded both material and moral prizes. Significant cash prizes were awarded to the top three teams in the Original and Ready-Made Vehicle categories. In addition, Erkam Tüzgen, General Manager of Bilişim Vadisi, announced that all the teams that ranked would be provided with free space in the incubation center for 6 months.
This support provides a great opportunity for young entrepreneurs to develop and implement their projects. The Robotaksi Passenger Autonomous Vehicle Competition was an important event that guides the future of transportation technologies.
The competition allowed young engineers to develop their creativity and technical skills, while also showcasing Turkey’s potential in the field of technology. It is clear that such competitions will contribute significantly to the future of our country by increasing young people’s interest in technology.
