Recent developments aren’t looking good for Football Manager fans. Initially scheduled for release on November 26 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, and on December 3 for Nintendo Switch, FM 25 has now been delayed until March. Additionally, there’s an update regarding the much-anticipated data update for FM 24.

No 2024/2025 update for Football Manager 24

Sports Interactive and SEGA have announced that the requested 2024/2025 update for Football Manager 24 will not be released. While this option was considered during the process of delaying FM 25, it did not pass due to various criteria.

The statement emphasized that it would not be feasible to take the assets intended for FM 25 and run them on FM 24 without building them from scratch. Additionally, many details, such as tournament rules, translations, and database changes, cannot be retroactively applied.

Disappointing news for Football Manager 25 fans!
FM 25 has been delayed to 2025. Initially expected to launch at the end of the year, the game has now been pushed back to March 2025.

Here’s the statement:

“Following our announcement regarding FM25’s delay, many of you requested an official FM24 update with the 2024/2025 season data. This was something we considered since our initial discussions regarding the delay of the game.

While we’ve now determined the scope of work and initially received positive feedback from many of our licensors, it’s not possible for us to strip FM25 assets and implement them in FM24 without rebuilding them from scratch. The same applies to many tournament rules, translation, and database changes that cannot be retroactively applied. The updated assets and data will need licensor approval, and these cannot be separated.

This update would require us to divert some critical resources needed to deliver FM25 at the highest possible quality. We cannot compromise on the quality of FM25.
