In recent years, significant progress has been made in the field of unmanned aircraft along with technology. As part of this development, China-based aviation company Air White Whale announced its first unmanned transport aircraft named W5000. So what does this aircraft offer? Here are its features…
The world’s largest unmanned transport aircraft W5000: What does it offer?
The W5000, which was recently announced at an event held in Changzhou, Jiangsu province of China, attracted attention with its twin turboprop engines. Its maximum take-off weight is 10.8 metric tons and its payload capacity is 5 tons.

According to the information shared by the company, the aircraft has an efficient and low-cost common cargo platform, upper wing, rectangular fuselage and low HTP design. The left and right wings each have a turboprop engine.
There is a three-point retractable landing gear at the front. The main landing gear is placed on the fuselage. In this way, it can easily land and take off at airports. On the other hand, this aircraft has a range of 2600 kilometers and can fly at a maximum cruising altitude of 6000 meters. The maximum cruising speed is 326.8 miles per hour (526 km/h).
Among the prominent advantages of the W5000 are the autonomous flight and ground tracking systems that allow flight crews to track 6-7 vehicles at the same time. This system significantly reduces operational costs, bringing them down to only one tenth of the costs of aircraft in a similar class. The cost per ton-kilometer is also 40 percent lower. This gives the W5000 a significant competitive advantage.
According to the information provided by the manufacturer, the W5000 will serve South East and Central Asian countries. It will also be able to reach Russia and Japan.
