Apple’s highly anticipated next-generation processor, the M4 Pro, has made a lot of noise among those waiting with its first performance tests. First of all, this model is equipped with a 14-core CPU and 20-core GPU, making it one of Apple’s most powerful mobile chips. In Geekbench tests, the M4 Pro scored 3,925 in single-core performance and 22,669 in multi-core performance, a 25% increase in single-core and 46% increase in multi-core over its predecessor, the M3 Pro.

These results are not just a result of more cores, but also because the processor runs more powerfully and efficiently thanks to an increased speed limit of up to 4.51 GHz. The M3 Pro had a speed limit of 4.06 GHz, a difference that makes the M4 Pro stand out, especially in speed-oriented operations.

Interestingly, the M4 Pro outperforms even last year’s 16-core M3 Max in multi-core performance, signaling a powerful experience on the next generation MacBook Pro models. The M4 Pro also shines in graphics performance.

Its 20-core GPU scored 69,867 points in the OpenCL test, a 38% jump over the M3 Pro’s GPU performance. While it doesn’t match the M3 Max’s 40-core GPU’s monster performance of 91,413 points, the difference is only 31%, and that’s impressive for half the core count of the M4 Pro. So it looks like the new MacBook Pros will more than live up to expectations in graphics processing.
