Realme’s highly anticipated new flagship GT7 Pro comes with Snapdragon 8 Elite, one of Qualcomm’s most powerful processors. GPU stress tests of the device, which is expected to offer high performance and fast response times, revealed that the device has heating problems. Here are the details
Realme GT7 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Elite processor overheats in early stress test
In stress tests conducted by Android Authority and Digital Trends, the GT7 Pro reached high temperatures and failed to complete intense tests. Specifically, Android Authority reported that the device overheated in standard benchmark tests and therefore couldn’t finish the tests.
It is also thought that Realme may have changed the software settings to score better in synthetic tests with some optimizations. In fact, this is a method preferred by many manufacturers; adjustments made to ensure that devices achieve higher scores in tests rather than actual performance can lead to undesirable results in real use.
Interestingly, the Realme GT7 Pro passes the same tests on a different benchmark version without any problems. So, the problem is more likely to be caused by a software tweak or optimization. Meanwhile, the effect of the heating problem on game performance was also tested.
Playing graphics-intensive games like Asphalt Legends Unite for 30 minutes, the GT7 Pro showed only a slight temperature increase. In other words, overheating may not be a big problem in everyday use, but it becomes more noticeable when the device is pushed to its limits in intense stress tests.
Since the device generally performs well in other performance tests, the overheating problem is said to only occur in stress tests. Realme is expected to roll out a software update to make the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor more efficient and control this overheating issue. If this issue is fixed, the GT 7 Pro is sure to satisfy users as a true flagship with its powerful hardware and impressive performance.
