Apple Intelligence is now coming to cars!

Apple Intelligence is now compatible with CarPlay as part of the iOS 18.1 update, bringing artificial intelligence to cars.

The artificial intelligence features offered within the scope of Apple Intelligence started to be available with the iOS 18.1 update. In this context, the company is now including Apple Intelligence features in the CarPlay service. Accordingly, it wants to make driving safer.

With iOS 18.1, Siri in CarPlay is getting a new interface offered for use on iPhone, iPad and Mac. The old Siri interface is replaced by a more modern design that covers the entire CarPlay screen and is compatible with Apple devices. Siri’s voice is also changing. Accordingly, a clearer and more natural sound experience is provided.

One of the most striking innovations in CarPlay is the smart notification filtering feature. Accordingly, iOS 18.1 introduces the Reduce Disturbance focus mode. This feature determines which notifications are truly urgent by using artificial intelligence and allows only these notifications to interrupt the focus modes.

According to Apple CEO Tim Cook’s statements, iOS 18.1 usage rate has doubled that of iOS 17.1. Here are the details.

Users will also be able to enable smart filtering for any special focus mode from Settings. This way, drivers can receive only the most important notifications and mute others while focusing on the road. Notifications considered less urgent by Apple Intelligence are filtered.

While autonomous driving is still a long way away, such updates aim to reduce distraction with machine learning integrations.
