While the electric motorcycle market is growing rapidly, BYD aims to increase its investments in this field. Especially after the fire incidents in recent years, it was stated that the company cooperated with TAILG, which produces electric motorcycles.
BYD partners with Chinese giant for electric motorcycle
Electric vehicle giant TAILG has joined forces with BYD to develop a new generation of batteries. This collaboration will provide a significant improvement over current battery technology and will produce batteries that will last the lifetime of the vehicles.
The partnership, announced at TAILG’s new product launch, will leverage BYD’s battery division FinDreams’ nearly 30 years of experience in lithium-ion battery technology. The companies will use cloud computing and data analytics to develop a safety system for the electric motorcycle.
This partnership comes at a time when China’s electric motorcycle market is growing fast. In 2023, more than 350 million vehicles were on the road and more than 42 million were produced. But with more than 21,000 electric motorcycle fires reported in China last year, safety is still a major concern.
FinDreams plans to apply its automotive battery expertise to the two-wheeler sector and increase its R&D investments in this area. The BYD and TAILG collaboration is likely to be important in improving the safety and lifespan of electric motorcycle batteries.
The partnership also aims to drive greater adoption of sustainable transportation both in China and globally.
