Google has introduced the Google Home Gemini extension, which takes smart home integrations one step further, to all users: This feature, which was previously only available to users in the Public Preview programme, is now available to everyone. What can be done with Google Home Gemini?

With this new feature, Google Home Gemini allows users to manage their homes with voice commands. Multiple commands can now be given at once. For example, you can say, ‘Prepare the dining room for a romantic dinner,’ so that the lights and other settings work harmoniously. Similarly, ‘Help me clean the kitchen’ can be used to start the robot vacuum cleaner.

Despite all this, for security reasons, Gemini cannot directly control critical security elements such as doors, cameras and garage doors. To manage such devices, the Google Home app must be opened manually.

Gemini supports the following devices with the Google Home extension:

• Lights & power (switches, sockets, lights)
• Climate control (air conditioners, thermostats, heaters, fans)
• Window coverings (Curtains, blinds, blinds)
• Media devices (televisions, loudspeakers)
• Other smart appliances (washing machines, coffee machines, vacuum cleaners)

Google states that Gemini is one step closer to completely changing Google Assistant with this move. The Google Home Gemini extension will be gradually rolled out to all users over time. If you don’t see this feature right away, you may have to wait a few more weeks.
