YouTube, the popular video platform visited by millions of people at least once a day, offers a subscription called YouTube Premium with many benefits for users. This service includes ad-free viewing as well as additional features that enhance the user experience. Recently, YouTube announced new features available to YouTube Premium users.
New Features for YouTube Premium Users
According to YouTube’s announcement, Premium subscribers now have access to 256kbps audio quality for music videos, providing a clearer and deeper sound experience. This makes listening to songs more enjoyable.

Additionally, features like Picture-in-Picture (PiP) and Smart Downloads have been made available specifically for iOS users. PiP allows users to browse other apps while watching YouTube Shorts videos. This means users can message or perform other tasks while watching content.
Smart Downloads automatically download recommended Shorts videos, allowing users to watch them offline. This is particularly helpful when there is a weak internet connection.
Another new feature, which was previously available on mobile devices and has now been added to the web version, is the “skip to best parts” option. Premium users can now easily jump to the best parts of videos.

Lastly, YouTube announced that new playback speed options will be added for mobile devices, allowing for adjustments with four times the current speed settings.
The new features for YouTube Premium users include:
- High-Quality Audio: 256kbps high-quality sound for more clarity and depth in music videos.
- Picture-in-Picture (PiP) for YouTube Shorts on iOS: Browse other apps while watching Shorts videos.
- Smart Downloads for YouTube Shorts on iOS: Recommended Shorts videos are automatically downloaded for offline viewing.
- “Skip to Best Parts” Feature on the Web: Previously available on mobile, now users can quickly jump to the best sections of videos.
- Soon – Faster Playback Speeds on Mobile: Playback speeds on mobile devices will be extended up to four times the current options.
While YouTube has announced these features are available, some Premium users are still reporting that they do not have access to them. This is likely due to the gradual rollout of the update, meaning not everyone may have access at the same time.
