A few days ago it was revealed that the Xbox Series X/S version of Resident Evil 6 received an indicative rating from the ESBR (Entertainment Software Rating Board). This indicated that a version of the 2012 game for next-gen consoles might be on the way. Now it has been learnt that Capcom is planning to release Resident Evil 5 on the next generation consoles with its renewed version.
Resident Evil 5, released in 2009, is coming to next generation consoles
Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 were originally released on PS3/Xbox 360. Subsequently, the game received a simple remaster for PS4/Xbox One. Since then, Capcom has worked to introduce new stories for the series with remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4, and Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village.
At the moment, the future of the series is not yet known. However, some rumours suggest that the next game will be the new Resident Evil 9, which will emphasise the open-world aspect of the series. Meanwhile, various leaks suggest that Capcom is also working on new remakes, with the first game in the series, Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Resident Evil 5 among the candidates.
Rumoured to be coming soon to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles, Resident Evil 5 follows Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar as they struggle to stop the threat of bioterrorism in Kijuju, Africa. While trying to catch virus dealer Ricardo Irving, the duo discovers that the population is infected with the Uroboros virus.
