When it comes to electric vehicles, Tesla is one of the pioneers, and the company recently introduced the new Tesla Model Y “Juniper” with a major announcement. The eagerly anticipated car has now entered mass production at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Shanghai. Here are the details:
Tesla Model Y “Juniper” Begins Mass Production
Tesla officially began the production of the new Tesla Model Y “Juniper” on February 17. Along with the announcement, Tesla shared a celebratory photo showing production workers. The first color option produced is Glacier Blue, and the initial models are all all-wheel-drive (AWD).

Key Features of Tesla Model Y “Juniper”
- The AWD version features a 78.4 kWh NMC battery and two electric motors, delivering a total power of 331 kW (444 hp). This allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds.
- The range is claimed to be 719 kilometers.
- The rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version comes with a 62.5 kWh battery and a 220 kW (295 hp) electric motor, offering a range of 593 km.
Given that Tesla’s Gigafactory in Shanghai is its largest production facility, the company expects to reach sales figures similar to those achieved last year. In 2024, Tesla Model Y became the world’s best-selling electric vehicle. It remains to be seen if the “Juniper” model can match or surpass that performance.
