WhatsApp is developing a new security measure against the recent increase in digital fraud cases. The fraud method known as “digital arrest” is carried out by fake law enforcement officers or authorities forcing users to transfer money by scaring them with accusations. WhatsApp’s new system, which is in the development phase, will prevent such fraud attempts.
WhatsApp prevents fraud cases with its new feature
The new update will integrate a feature that has been available on platforms such as Google Meet and Microsoft Teams for a long time into WhatsApp. Currently, the camera opens automatically when a video call comes in and can only be closed after the call is accepted.

After the update, users will have the option to turn their camera on and off before accepting the call. In this way, the risk of participating in unwanted video calls will be eliminated.
WhatsApp continues to improve the user experience not only with security measures but also with new features. The platform, which is stated to be working on a system called UPI Lite, will allow payments of small amounts to be made without having to enter a PIN with this feature.
It is also planned to offer a new user interface with Meta AI integration. Additional innovations such as automatic voice mode and suggested message starters will also be included in the system. Although it is not yet clear when the new security features developed by WhatsApp will be available to all users, they are considered an important step in the fight against digital fraud.
