Nintendo is preparing to launch its next-generation game console, the Switch 2, soon. However, according to official data released by the company, this model will not be as profitable as the first generation Switch. The information shared by Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa with investors showed that production costs have increased significantly.
Nintendo Switch 2 will not be as profitable as the first version
The factors that have reduced the profitability of the Switch 2 include a larger screen, a new chip with 4K support, and new customs tariffs in the US. These cost increases were also reflected in the company’s financial projections.

While sales of 1.9 trillion yen are expected for the 2026 fiscal year, only 300 billion yen in profit is projected. This means that the Switch 2 will provide Nintendo with less profit per unit compared to the previous model.
The user account agreement was also updated before the new console’s release. The new agreement, which focuses specifically on preventing the use of pirated content, will officially render unauthorized digital content inoperable. In the US version of the product, if pirated usage is detected, it will even be possible to partially or completely disable the console.
Nintendo will not directly increase prices despite the increasing costs for now. However, price updates may be on the agenda in the future depending on changes in market conditions.
Nintendo Switch 2 will go on sale in Turkey on June 13. The official sales price of the console is determined as 36,999 TL. So what do you think about this device? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
