Meta is joining the US Army’s giant project in the field of wearable military technologies. The company, together with Anduril Industries, which has attracted attention with its rapid rise in the defense industry, has joined the “EagleEye” project to develop augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence-supported military devices.
Meta will supply wearable devices for the US Army
EagleEye will be part of the wearable technologies program carried out by the US Army with a total budget of $22 billion. The aim of the program is to develop new generation helmets, goggles and other wearable systems that will increase the visual and auditory perceptions of military personnel in the field, detect threats in advance and work integrated with artificial intelligence.

It is stated that the systems to be developed will be able to detect unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) kilometers away, make hidden targets visible and establish instant data sharing with artificial intelligence-supported weapon systems.
In the EagleEye project, Meta’s artificial intelligence models will work together with autonomous software developed by Anduril. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated in his statement about the project that these technologies are “capable of protecting interests both domestically and internationally.”
It is stated that Meta’s contribution in this area will focus not only on hardware but also on advanced data analysis and artificial intelligence decision support systems. After Microsoft’s withdrawal from the military AR headset project, the extent to which Meta will contribute to the project has already become a matter of curiosity.
