MediaTek is gearing up to launch the successor to its Dimensity 9400, which was introduced last October. The company is expected to release the Dimensity 9500 soon. Recent reports reveal that the new chipset has already entered performance testing ahead of its official unveiling.
MediaTek Dimensity 9500 in Geekbench OpenCL Test
MediaTek’s new flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9500, has made its first appearance on Geekbench. Along with this, some details about its features, especially its GPU, have come to light.
According to the Geekbench listing, the Dimensity 9500 features a CPU configuration with one ultra core (Travis) running at 3.23 GHz, three performance cores (Alto) at 3.03 GHz, and four efficiency cores (Gelas) at 2.23 GHz. Industry sources say this will be the first processor to have a full core setup based on the X930 ultra-core architecture. On the graphics side, it includes the Mali-G710 Ultra MC12 GPU.
The Travis and Alto cores are built on ARM’s latest Cortex-X9 architecture with SME support, while the Gelas cores are based on the next-generation A7 core family. This marks a shift from the Cortex-X4 cores used in the Dimensity 9400. The chipset is manufactured using TSMC’s N3P 3nm process, aiming to balance performance and power efficiency.
On the GPU front, the new Immortalis-Drago architecture is employed, offering enhanced ray tracing capabilities and improved energy efficiency. However, since the GPU is currently running at just 1 MHz in early tests, it scored 15,717 points.
Additionally, the Dimensity 9500 supports 4-channel LPDDR5x RAM (10,667 Mbps) and UFS 4.1 storage. It also includes 16 MB of L3 cache and 10 MB of system-level cache, which should boost multitasking and data transfer performance.
The Dimensity 9500 is expected to be officially announced in September. It will likely debut in devices such as the vivo X300 series and Oppo Find X9 series.
