The Dune universe, brought to the big screen by Denis Villeneuve, is preparing to enter a new era with the third film. This new production, which will be shot under the name “Dune: Messiah,” is based on the second book of the series.
Dune 3 is coming
However, recent developments show that the story will not be limited to this book alone. While preparations for the film, which is planned to start shooting on July 7, are gaining momentum, new names joining the cast are drawing attention. The fact that the characters that two of these names will portray are not in “Dune: Messiah,” but in the third book of the series, “Children of Dune,” reveals that the scope of the film has expanded.

Villeneuve had previously adapted Frank Herbert’s first novel into two parts in the first two films released. “Dune: Messiah,” on the other hand, was expected to tell the second novel in full. However, the story was shaped to include the characters in the third book of the series; It is indicated that Villeneuve preferred to tell the Dune universe in a more complete structure, without sticking to just one novel.
Dune: Messiah takes place approximately 12 years after the events of the first film. It covers a period when Paul Atreides sits on the throne of the galactic empire, but faces the consequences of this power. The film will focus on both the internal conflicts of the characters and the transformation of the political structure.
The cast includes Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Jason Momoa and Anya Taylor-Joy, who return to their roles from previous films. It is suggested that Robert Pattinson will also join this cast, but no official statement has been made yet.
