As the countdown continues for Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated project, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, a new trailer has been released. The production, which will be released on July 25, will bring the Fantastic Four directly under the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) roof for the first time.
The new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has arrived
The director of the film is Matt Shakman, known for WandaVision. However, although First Steps takes place directly within the MCU, it is positioned in a parallel universe. The film takes place in a retro-futuristic version of 1960s America.
The story begins with the Fantastic Four learning that a cosmic threat called Galactus is heading to Earth. The heroes enter a difficult struggle to protect the planet from this threat that may surpass their powers.
The film stars Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing. Julia Garner plays the character Silver Surfer, who will be seen in a different version in the film. The cast also includes Ralph Ineson, Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne and Sarah Niles.
Marvel Studios’ new film aims to bring a different breath to the series not only by reinterpreting familiar characters, but also with its narrative structure. The parallel universe theme gives a new context to the characters’ pasts, while its retro design offers a different atmosphere to the audience.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be in theaters on July 25, 2025. The latest trailer released signals that it will offer a more stylized and period-based experience outside of the classic Marvel narrative in terms of both tone and visuals. With the film, the Fantastic Four will officially join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
