Mercedes-Benz has decided to expand production capacity for the third-generation CLA model, which was introduced just three months ago. The company has put a third shift into operation on the production line due to the high number of orders.
Mercedes to increase production of the new CLA model
Offered for the first time with a fully electric version, the new CLA also meets consumers with internal combustion engine options. The interest shown in both electric and gasoline versions has caused the factory to accelerate its production pace.

Mercedes’ production manager Jörg Burzer stated in an event held at the company headquarters that interest in the new CLA has exceeded expectations and that the production increase is progressing as planned.
While the ongoing problems in the supply chain on a global scale and the risks related to rare earth elements, especially those supplied from China, continue, Mercedes stated that it has taken the necessary measures regarding the supply of these critical parts.
The new CLA stands out as part of the brand’s strategy to maintain its presence in the sedan class. At a time when SUV models have become dominant in the automotive industry, the demand for sedan options such as the CLA supports Mercedes’ determination in this segment.
The electric CLA 250+ EQ Technology and CLA 350 4Matic EQ Technology models feature a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 85 kWh and an 800-volt electrical architecture. The CLA 250+ offers 268 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque with a single electric motor positioned at the rear axle. The four-wheel-drive CLA 350, on the other hand, offers a total of 349 horsepower and 515 Nm of torque with a dual-motor system.
Production of the internal combustion engine CLA models has not yet begun. However, assembly of these versions will begin in the next few months. These models feature 1.5-liter four-cylinder engines supported by a 48-volt mild hybrid system and an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Performance data has not yet been shared.
