Ferrari is bringing its brand, which is synonymous with high-performance automobiles, to the maritime world. The company is preparing to launch the first fully energy-equipped foil boat, which runs solely on wind, solar and kinetic energy without using an engine, with its racing yacht called Hypersail, which it plans to complete in 2026.

Hypersail, which began construction in Italy, will be the largest fully foil system monohull yacht ever built with a length of 30 meters, a width of 20 meters and a height of 40 meters. Hypersail will operate entirely on energy and will move without any engine, generator or auxiliary power unit. All control systems – including fins, rudders and keel – are designed to operate with sustainable energy sources.

Thanks to the high efficiency of the foil technology, Hypersail is preparing to perform at a speed range of 50 knots (approximately 93 km/h), which is reached by AC75 class racing boats. This technology is currently used in major sea races such as the America’s Cup.
Guillaume Verdier, known for his marine designs, is responsible for the engineering part of the project. Verdier’s architectural solution is designed to keep the yacht balanced at three points of contact with the foil on the keel and two rudder points in the middle of the hull. This structure ensures that the yacht maintains its balance during high-speed cruising, while also increasing the yacht’s stability in difficult weather conditions.
The design of Hypersail was inspired by Ferrari’s hypercar experience in the Le Mans races. This connection also reflects the project’s engineering approaches to speed, agility and energy efficiency. With this project, Ferrari not only offers an environmentally friendly yacht, but also demonstrates its technological leadership in areas other than automotive.
Hypersail’s sea tests are planned to begin in 2026. When completed, the project will be the first foil yacht to produce only its own energy. This makes Hypersail a pioneering model that combines sustainability and high performance in maritime.
