Powerful and stylish: Galaxy Watch 8 introduced

At its Galaxy Unpacked event today, Samsung took the wraps off the highly anticipated Galaxy Watch 8 series. The new lineup includes both Standard and Classic versions, aiming to deliver a premium smartwatch experience. So, what does the standard Galaxy Watch 8 bring to the table?

Galaxy Watch 8 Features

The Galaxy Watch 8 comes in two size options: 44 mm and 40 mm. The 44 mm variant measures 43.7 x 46 x 8.6 mm and weighs 34 grams, while the 40 mm version is 40.4 x 42.7 x 8.6 mm and weighs 30 grams.

The smartwatch features a durable sapphire crystal glass, offering exceptional resistance against scratches. The 44 mm model boasts a 1.47-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 480×480 pixels. Meanwhile, the 40 mm version includes a slightly smaller 1.34-inch screen with 438×438 resolution.

Both models utilize Super AMOLED technology and support Always On Display (AOD).

Under the hood, the watch is powered by Samsung’s 3nm, 5-core Exynos W1000 processor. It comes equipped with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.

Battery capacity differs between the models: the 44 mm version includes a 435 mAh battery, while the 40 mm variant houses a 325 mAh battery. Both support fast charging through WPC-based wireless charging.

Out of the box, the Galaxy Watch 8 runs on Wear OS 6 with Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch interface. Like its predecessor, it offers an extensive suite of health and fitness features.
