The schedule for Apple’s September event to unveil its new iPhone models is becoming clearer. Renowned analyst Mark Gurman stated that the iPhone 17 series launch event will be held during the week of September 8th in 2025. According to Gurman, the iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro models will be officially announced this week.
iPhone 17 Series Coming in September
In previous years, Apple has typically held its iPhone launches during the second week of September. The company appears to have favored a timeframe after September 1st, which is celebrated as Labor Day in the US. It is anticipated that this schedule will continue in 2025.

Given that Apple has generally favored a Tuesday for its previous events, the iPhone 17 launch seems likely to be on Tuesday, September 9th this year. However, the company could also opt for a date as close as September 8th or 10th. It is known that Apple has avoided September 11th and has not chosen September 12th because it falls on a Friday.
In previous years, the iPhone 16 series was unveiled on September 9, 2024, the iPhone 15 series on September 12, 2023, and the iPhone 14 series on September 7, 2022. The common thread among these dates is that they mostly fall on a Tuesday or Wednesday, falling in the second week of September. Apple largely adheres to this chronological order.
It’s been reported that the iPhone 17 series won’t be the only product line to be unveiled at the September event. The Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3, as well as the next-generation AirPods, are also expected to be announced at the same event. As usual, a separate event for Mac products is planned for October.
Apple uses its September events not only for hardware announcements but also to announce the release dates of operating system updates. The final version of iOS 19 is expected to be released alongside the new iPhones. Following the launch, pre-orders for the iPhone 17 models will begin within a few days, and the devices will typically hit stores a week later.
