Grand Theft Auto IV, released in 2008, has been completely revamped visually with a new graphics mod called iCEnhancer 4.0. The trailer released for the new version of the mod reveals radical changes to details such as the game’s lighting system, fog effects, and water reflections.
GTA IV Comes with iCEnhancer 4.0 Mod
The iCEnhancer project, which has been in development for years, brings physically based lighting (PBR), advanced shading systems, and overall atmospheric improvements to the fourth game in the series. The new version makes significant improvements, particularly in the fog rendering algorithms and the reflection/refraction quality of water.
The mod only works with versions 1.0.3.0 and 1.0.4.0, which are best compatible with the ENB graphics plugin. Players who want to use the mod must have one of these versions. iCEnhancer 4.0 can be downloaded from the developer’s official website.
Grand Theft Auto IV remains the only Rockstar Games title set in a 3D world that cannot be played natively on today’s consoles. Xbox Series X and S owners can run the Xbox 360 version via backward compatibility, but an official remaster or direct port for modern platforms has not yet been released.
Various rumors regarding the matter surface from time to time. These rumors include the information that a port began development last year and could be released before the end of 2025. Considering that Grand Theft Auto VI, the new game in the series, has been delayed until May 2026, a re-release of GTA IV could make the wait more bearable for players.
Rockstar Games has not officially released a statement on the matter. However, the growing anticipation within the community indicates a significant demand for this long-unupdated classic to be reunited with modern technology. The visuals offered by iCEnhancer 4.0 fill an important void for Grand Theft Auto IV fans until an official remaster or port arrives.
